NUTRITION AND LIFESTYLE MAKEOVER

We each have our own unique biochemistry and genetics, and we do not all respond to food in the same way.  Food is actually information to our bodies telling our genes how to express.  This is the science of nutrigenomics, a powerful, evidence-based approach to nutrition that has the potential to prevent, improve or reverse chronic disease.  This program teaches you how to honor your body as biochemically unique, and together we will build your own individualized nutrition plan.

EVIDENCE-BASED APPROACH TO NUTRITION

WHOLE FOODS DIET:

You will enjoy an anti-inflammatory diet rich in colorful plant foods, healthful fats, quality proteins, and energy supporting starches that support balanced blood sugar and adrenal function.  You will learn optimal times to eat the foods that are specific to your needs and avoid foods that your body is sensitive to.  This new way of eating will take some adjustment, but you will be motivated by how quickly you see and feel results.

BALANCE FOR THE GUT:

Now that your eating is truly nourishing your body, your gut will thank you.  The gut is of vital importance to your overall health and is home to 70 percent of your immune system.  Every day the gut has exposure to things that can create imbalance and/or infection such as bacteria, parasites, viruses, mold, medications, toxins, foreign proteins in foods, and stress.  Your gut will be assessed, and you will learn how to support your gut for healing and optimal function.

DETOXIFICATION:

Today’s world is very toxic with exposures in our food, water, beauty/personal care products, and the environment, both indoors and out.   To make matters even more difficult, many have genetic mutations making detoxification much more difficult.  Detoxification is a foundational component in optimizing the body’s natural ability to heal and thrive.  Before a detoxification program can begin, the body must have the ability to efficiently eliminate toxins.  That is why this part of the program will begin after you’ve been eating a whole foods diet and have a healthy gut.  Detoxification begins with liver support and may include: identifying toxins making you sick and removing or reducing exposure, testing, detoxification diet including adequate protein and antioxidants, supplementation, far-infrared sauna, epsom salt baths, and other detox techniques.

STRESS MANAGEMENT:

There is no denial that in this Modern Age our bodies are under significant stress.  We have relationship problems, financial concerns, living under “expectations” from our fast-paced, Western culture to work faster, work more, be a “super-parent”, meet constant deadlines all while dealing with a borage of texts, phone calls,  and emails.  Many are dealing with health crises’, addictions, divorce, caregiving, and loss.  These stressors MUST be met with a plan of action to heighten the body’s ability to remain in a state of balance.  While balance can be achieved through a combination of developing a diet rich in whole foods specific to you, optimizing the function of the gut, and supporting detoxification, more is needed.  The body must be treated as a whole and additional lifestyle changes will be explored and implemented to support the parasympathetic nervous system through breathing exercises, yoga, restorative yoga poses, targeted exercise, nature bathing through walking and hiking, meditation and mindfulness practice, soul detoxification, gratefulness, connection with others and your purpose in life.

Nutritional/Lifestyle Makeover Packages:

 

INITIAL CONSULTATION: (75 MINUTES; $150)

The client will receive a health history form to be completed and returned prior to the first appointment.  This will give the nutritionist time to review and begin tailoring a program specific to the individual.  This consultation will begin with a discussion of the client’s health history, nutritional state, and health goals.  A course of action will be determined and may include a variety of recommendations:  elimination of foods causing sensitivity/inflammation, gut support, detoxification, nutritional testing, whole foods diet tailored to the individual, nutritional supplementation, and carb cycling

FOLLOW-UP SESSION:  (45 MINUTES;  $75)
After having time to “digest” the initial consultation, the client will likely have questions to discuss.  The follow-up sessions will continue working on the nutritional needs and goals of the individual and will be dependent upon her current state of health.  Some clients will feel ready to incorporate the changes more quickly while others will have more work to do based on gut health, toxicity, etc.
